Good morning!
Well another month has been here and is now gone, and Spring is definitely in the air! And with it is the start of our Hero/Heroine Discussion Blogathon. What our goal is this month is simply to discuss our favorite hero and/or heroine and what makes them our favorites. We’ll have various authors and readers share with us who their favorites are and why they chose them. And I’ll go first!
My favorite Heroine is Lady Johanna from Julie Garwood’s Saving Grace. Johanna is so superbly written. From the very start of the book we get a take on her character, and what she’s lived with from an early age. The twisted torture her first husband put her through would have made a lesser woman tremble and become weak, but it made Johanna find her inner strength and cleverness. She’s a strong character and in the end faces her worst nightmare and triumphs. She’s definitely my all-time favorite Heroine.
And my favorite Hero is Gabriel MacBain from that same book, Julie Garwood’s Saving Grace. Gabe is so hunky, but what makes me like him so much is his gentle side. He takes a bride to secure his holding. And he doesn’t mind that she’s supposed to be barren or that she’s not a virgin. He also takes care of a boy that might or might not be his son—claiming him despite the fact that the boy’s mother was a camp follower and therefore making him a bastard child. Maybe he claimed the boy because he was also not claimed by his father (the Laird of the holding), but it didn’t matter because him (and Lady Johanna) believed that the boy should be treated as part of their family.
I guess you could say this book is and probably always will be my all-time favorite book. It touches on domestic abuse, abandon children, and so much more. And when I finish it, I have the overwhelming feeling that I need to read it again!
Now what’s your favorite and why?
