"...a gripping, non-stop action tale that kept me scrolling down the page even as my eyes blurred!"

A Soft Place To Fall is a gripping, non-stop action tale that kept me scrolling down the page even as my eyes blurred!

Parajumper Nic D’Onofrio travels to Lake Tahoe after escorting the body of his teammate and childhood friend, Joey, back from Germany. Nic is filled with grief and has taken leave in order to deal with the loss of his friend. As he returns to his hotel room from a night of drinking, he passes a car stranded on the side of the road. He tries to convince himself to pack away his Batman persona (the constant need to rescue anyone in trouble), but in the end he stops. What he finds is a disoriented woman in her Christmas pajamas. He quickly finds out she has amnesia. The only thing she recalls is her name.

Julie Galloway doesn't remember anything...even how she ended up in Lake Tahoe. But as Nic takes care of her, she begins to recall pieces of her life. And, eventually, remembers that her entire family had been murdered and she'd walked in on the killer.

Over an eventful few days, the killer's identity comes to light and he's after Julie...

This story is interesting and unlike anything I've ever read. The insight into the life of a parajumper team added elements to this story that kept my interest from the beginning until the end. And the setting descriptions are so realistic it's extremely easy to envision the events as they play out. I'd definitely recommend this read to anyone who likes a bit of adventure and suspense in their stories, and who doesn't mind a bit of graphic murder scenes thrown in for realistic effect.

Book Description for A Soft Place to Fall

Nic D’Onofrio is a hotshot pararescueman without a mission, on vacation, trying to understand the loss of his best friend in Afghanistan. His teammates say he has a Batman complex, even call him Batman when it suits them. All Nic wants is to ski hard, drink a lot and fall into bed at night, with or without a willing babe.

And then, there she is, stranded on the side of the road in Tahoe. Soft, sweet and so danged vulnerable. Julie. That’s all she knows. She’s wearing her pajamas. Batman does the only logical thing. He takes her home.
