"...a very interesting story of love, lies and deceit."

In Maplecreek Ohio, Fall came with a surprise this year and not a very good one. Attacks were being made on the towns Amish folk. One child was hurt and in a coma and another might loose their eyesight in one eye. While celebrating the Fall, a group of Amish youngsters were gathered around a bonfire at the back of a cornfield when out of no where come a motorcycle and threw a bag of fireworks into the fire. Everyone scattered in the chaos of it all and two children ran from the fire into the woods. A little girl fell and was knocked unconscious, and another boy was hit by a branch. And, miles away in the city, a brave policewoman was recovering from a harrowing incident where she almost lost her life.

Luke Brand and his family had lived in Maplecreek for as far back as anyone could remember. Now they were under attack and on the verge of being ran out of their home land to avoid being hurt or worse. Kat Lindley is a brave woman who lost all of her family long ago, and hoped to escape her ghosts by becoming a policewoman in an effort to make things in her life seem worthwhile. She had to grow up fast and hard after the death of her brother and had recently moved to Maplecreek to get away from bad memories and take a dispatch job.

Thrown together by death and pushed apart by their differences in religion, somehow a love grows...but so does deceit and murderous intentions. Leaving only questions: Can the Maplecreek Amish be saved while a murderer lurks in the shadows hoping to destroy the community and kill the Amish before they can get to the bottom of the situation? In this intriguing story, decent folks are being poisoned by "friends."

Will Luke and Kat's shared interest and growing love be enough to keep them together or will their differences tear them apart? This is an excellent book about overcoming differences and developing love. It tells how the Amish are treated by those who don't understand their ways, and how they treat each other and those they love and care for. This is a very interesting story of love, lies and deceit.
