"...started off very broken and haphazard."
This book started off very broken and haphazard. Slowly, the writing became a little more organized and cohesive. Unfortunately, it lacked a lot to make an interesting read. It was not original and lacked passion. The ideas were very common ones in this genre.
The thing I disliked most about the book was how the author tried to make drinking blood okay if the person/victim were evil. That is all fine and good, but further into the story the vampires accepted it was okay to drink blood if there was a possibility that the person/victim would give them away...even if that person were innocent! If the vampires are going to do evil, make them evil. Don't make humans think the vampires are good as long as it's in their best interest to kill.
