"...a spectacular beginning to Ms. Grothaus' Medieval Warriors trilogy!"

Simply wonderful! Heather Grothaus' debut paranormal historical, The Warrior, is full of mystery, intrigue, and what we all pick up romance novels for...romance! The characters are endearing and will make you eager to read more about them in the books to come.

After years fighting to secure King William's hold on England, Tristan D'Argent returns from battle to claim a keep bequeathed to him for his service to William. He's also to finally marry the daughter of the man who William had entrusted to look after the Tristan's keep. He'd hoped to settle down to a peaceful life, but what he found was his intended's stepfather had spread vicious rumors about him in order to make the keep's people fear Tristan and seek refuge with his rival.

Tristan would not be detoured in putting his keep to rights, and, after meeting the betrothed's family, decided to do so without being trapped into an unwanted marriage. In the process, he finally finds a woman who'd plagued his dreams for years. A woman that he knew was his destiny, the half-sister of the woman William confirmed on him.

Lady Haith had lived a hard life being the bastard child of a Lord. While she had been conceived in love and taken into the keep by her father, his true wife had never forgiven the traitorous acts of Haith's mother and father. And, after they'd both been massacred by the Norman invaders, Haith had been the one to pay. She'd taken it all well and dealt with it the best she could...until the day she finally met the man of her late night visions. A man who was betrothed to her half-sister whom she loved dearly despite the awkward situation of being born from an affair.

With little choice but to cooperate with her sister's stepfather, Haith's caught in a viscous battle between now sworn enemies. She must betray the man she knows is her destiny or live the life of the other woman, a role she refuses to play. Will there be a way for Haith and Tristan to find happiness or will betrayals tear them apart?

Haith and Tristan are impeccable characters, well written and easy to care about. You're immediately drawn into despair as Haith figures out that the man she is pretty much already in love with is betrothed to her sister, and then into fear for her safety when she must betray him in order to keep from becoming the slave of the evil stepfather. While somewhere in your mind you know there has to be a way they make it, you're still taken on an emotional journey from one realm of the spectrum to the other. The Warrior is a spectacular beginning to Ms. Grothaus' Medieval Warriors trilogy!

Book Description for The Warrior

England, 1075, a time of raging feuds and men who pledge their sword for king and country, an era brought masterfully to life in this epic tale of a powerful Norman warrior and the woman who is his destiny...

Tristan D'Argent returns from battle to claim the keep bequeathed to him by King William, only to find his lands under the ruthless control of a treacherous rival--a man who has secured Tristan as his stepdaughter's betrothed. Determined to get his due without being trapped in marriage, Tristan prepares to win by any means necessary, only to be confronted by the beautiful face of the woman who haunts his dreams. She is Haith, the half-sister of his bartered bride.

Haith never imagined seeing the man of her moonlit visions in the flesh, or worse, as her greatest tormentor. Caught in the bitter treachery of sworn enemies, neither Tristan's strong words nor tender promises can quell her fear that their destinies have not yet begun to play out...in a time where the might of men rules with a vengeance, and the warrior who fights for love takes the greatest risk of all....
