"...a romantic comedy and mystery..."
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time.
Agnes Crandall, "Cranky Agnes" to her readers, is a columnist and recipe book author with her fiance, Taylor. Agnes and Taylor have become partners in a soon-to-be catering and book adventure. Oh yes, Agnes is handy with a frying pan in more ways than one. They have signed the papers on what Agnes calls Tara with Butter, a beautiful old southern home and land called Twin Rivers. (Agnes has very bad luck with fiances, but you'll have to read about them.) She has moved here and is now planning and doing her goddaughter's wedding—complete with flamingos.
Shane, the hitman, is coming to help her out because someone keeps trying to steal her dog Rhett for some reason, so his Uncle Joey sends him to her rescue, so to speak. Love is abound but no one is sure when or how it all happens. But when people start dying without reason, and Agnes finds herself in jail for things she knows she hasn't done, mob connections are brought into play in more ways than one.
This is really an awesome book. It is a romantic comedy and mystery, and I have read it more than once already. It's very funny, and has some incredible characters in it. I hope they write more than one Agnes book, she is an unbelievable woman.

Book Description for Agnes and the Hitman
Agnes Crandall’s problems are rolling to a boil. First, a dog-napper invades her kitchen, seriously hampering her attempts to put on a wedding that she’s staked her entire net worth on. Then a man climbs through her bedroom window to save her. “Shane” (no last name) may be Agnes’s hero, but he’s also a professional hitman—so he’s no stranger to trouble himself…
Between a rival who wants to take him out and an uncle who may have lost five million bucks in Agnes’s basement, Shane’s plate is plenty full. Soon Agnes and Shane are tangled up with the lowlifes after the money, a gang of Southern mob wedding guests, a dog named Rhett, and—most dangerous of all—each other.
