"...an engaging hero and heroine..."

Delaney Morgan and Grant Stone have their own frustrations with writing for the Atlanta Globe. Delaney is buried in obituaries while Grant is held back by a jealous editor. Both want to be hard-hitting journalists but now they are stuck writing dueling columns about dating. Deciding the make the best of a bad situation, they join forces to make “The Single Life” a success. Over time, Delaney finds that the men she dates can’t compete with Grant’s appeal. For Grant, it becomes increasingly difficult to watch Delaney date other men once he realizes he wants to be her first and last date.

Kate McKeever has crafted an enjoyable modern and wholesome love story. In The Single Life, she captures both the trails and tribulations of dating in the 21st century and the joy of finding the right match. McKeever has created an engaging hero and heroine, with likable supporting characters. Delaney’s painful and humorous first dates with strange men are all too real in this age of internet dating services and speed dating. You sympathize with Grant as he becomes increasingly frustrated with Delaney’s dates, especially the ones that go well!

The transition from sparing partners, to friends, to romantic interest Delaney and Grant undergo is believable and clearly results from the time they spend together on and off the job. They are drawn close by their frustration over the single life assignment, but fall in love over small things like coffee, computers, and car rides. Finding true love after navigating (and surving) the modern dating scene is worth celebrating. So, three cheers for Delaney and Grant!

Book Description for The Single Life

Delaney Morgan is not happy. A reporter with the Atlanta Globe, she has spent her time deep in the obituaries, biding her time until the opportunity to make her name arrives. Now her editor has designated her the guinea pig for a new column, Single in the City. At least she'll get a byline from it. The down side is she'll have to work with Grant Stone.

Grant is ready to quit the Globe. He wants hard hitting journalism. Instead he gets to baby sit Morgan while she goes out on dates. And not just any date. New age dating. She has to go online, speed date and get matched by a computer. And he has to follow her and report on the "experience". Well, he figures he'll give it a couple of months, then he's out of here.

When Delaney and Grant play dueling articles sparks fly, at first from irritation then from attraction. Soon, Delaney is spending more time thinking of Grant than her column or the men she's supposed to be impressing. And Grant finds it strangely frustrating watching other men flirt with Laney.

Romance blossoms between the partners. Still, Grant is planning to find another job. If he leaves before the end of the assignment, it means the end of Laney's chance to move up in the newspaper. Worse, it means the end of their budding relationship.
