This information was collected from published guidelines, interviews with authors and editors, and other resources. As always, publishers' wants and needs change, and the information as presented below might already be out-of-date by the time it's published on WWR. Please check with the publishing house you're targeting if you have doubts about anything listed below.

Word Count » 60,000 words

Point of View » Third person. However, the POV can be from the male or female perspectives, or seen through the eyes of both protagonists.

Setting & Time Period » Limitless settings within a contemporary time frame. The setting can be in North Americ or international.

Here are a few of the highlights from eHarlequin's guidelines:

  • Basically, they are advising authors to "[t]ake an international city background that vividly conveys the buzz of cosmopolitan life, an independent woman who knows what she wants from love and her career and a guy who's confident, easygoing and gorgeously sexy...and you have pure Temptation!"
  • The revamped line is looking for, "[y]oung characters in urban settings — either North American or international — meet, flirt, share experiences, have great sex and fall in love, finally making a commitment that will bind them together, forever."
  • And, "[t]hough their [the hero and heroine] stories are firmly based around emotional issues, other concerns — such as job and friendships — are also touched upon and resolved in an upbeat way."

Telephone inquiries should be limited, but here's the number in case you decide to call overseas: 011-44-020-8288-2800.
