Writing a category romance? Maybe you’re not like most and don’t need notes or something to follow the plot along to make sure you’re being consistent. But if you’re like others (and me!) you need some way of making sure that the gun used in chapter 3 gets found before the end of the book in the same place the person left it…say in the bottom of a flower pot in the office of the victim and not in the desk drawer. You don’t want to have your readers left with questions like how the gun got from the pot to the drawer!
One really awesome article by a SUPER author that I just adore is Plot Board: What It is And Why One Is Useful To Writers by Vickie Hinze. I think you could definitely do variations of her plot board, but I have definite plans to follow her way to the T. What does it hurt to give it a try? You’re only out a little time. And who knows you might find with everything laid out in front of you that you can write faster!
