Swine Flu, Reviews, Backlog of Work and More!

by Heather R. on October 6, 2009

Hi, all!

Well, this has certainly been one crazy Summer leading into an even wilder Fall. I’d like to start by saying the site has not gone stale. If you’ve visited and noticed that the blog isn’t as active, the books only a few months ahead, and the reviews only trickling…well, there’s good reason. Not only is the site in the midst of a redirection/reworking, my whole family has had the swine flu! It started (or so we believe) with my little girl who had a fairly mild case but held onto it for about 3 days. When I believed her to be well enough to go back to her preschool, my son presented symptoms. At first it was nothing but a mild fever, then that fever stayed with him and he had a few other symptoms. It wasn’t nearly as bad as some have had it (or as deadly), but anyone who has kids knows how they can be when sick. Demanding, for one. And all encompassing for another. Once I thought they were out of the woods I developed some symptoms myself (though no fever). So I’m just now, after nearly two weeks, getting back into the swing of things.

I would love to say I was caught up before then, but truth is I haven’t been. Finding reliable help to work with me on the site has been hard. I have some SUPER wonderful people who are helping (like Carolynn Carey and Alyson James), but the ones I’ve been trying out in various paid and non-paid forms to help bring the other areas up-to-speed haven’t work out as I’d have liked. So I’m going to say that I am trying to get everything organized and back into full swing before the holidays. By November I hope to have the site’s new subsets working and the books and reviews updated accordingly. I appreciate you stopping in once and while to see what’s new. There will be some major visitors to the blog over the next couple of months and a few features that continue to be updated daily, but any MAJOR updates will be slow coming.

Thank you all for understanding!

Sincerely,

Heather R.

Hang in there, Heather. I’m just glad none of you got too sick with H1N1.

Thanks, Carolynn!

We’re finally over all that ails…with the exception of some nasty allergies. Thank goodness this close to the holidays!
