I’ve recently been wondering how romance readers and authors alike feel about the Google Books project. Have you tried it? I have. I’m not sure how I feel. It’s neat to read excerpts and tiny snippets, but I am still not sure how ‘right’ it is to have your work posted so freely. I’ve read all the terms, all the legalese, etc. I know they’re only supposed to have posted a ‘fair use’ snippet unless they have a partnership with the publisher and/or author who owns the current copyright…but I’ve seen a lot more on there than what I would consider to be ‘fair use’.
The excerpts here on WWR are usually provided by the authors. Most of which were provided for books we’ve reviewed. And if they weren’t, they were approved by the publisher. The thing is, if you look at those romance novel excerpts you’ll only find about 1/2 of a written page give or take soem. But the Google Books preview shows a lot more than that.
Hmmm…
Do you find Google Books useful or an infringement on copyright laws? I’d love to hear what others think!

Nobody have an opinion on this? I’m surprised. I couldn’t imagine a reader or author … or even a student who does research wouldn’t…
