Gifted with a wry sense of humor, Holly Jacobs Furhmann writes comedic romances as both Holly Jacobs and Holly Furhmann. She's written books for Harlequin Duets, Harlequin Flipside, Silhouette Romance, Precious Gem, ImaJinn Books, and Avalon. She sold her first book to Harlequin/Silhouette in March of 2000.
A resident of Erie, Pennsylvania, Holly has spent her life as a reader and credits her desire to become a writer to her life-long reading habit. The mother of four children, Holly says her husband is her strongest supporter. When talking about her husband, she claims, "I've yet to write a hero who is half the man he is."
Holly hasn't always been a romance reader, and in fact, she admits that she found the romance genre later in life. As a child, her favorite authors included Heinlein, Lewis, and Bach, and she fell in love with Middle Earth in the third grade.
Why does she like writing romance? Because "it's a genre about people, about relationships.... it all boils down to the people and that is why I fell for it."
Holly's Books
Her Silhouette Romance stories are part of a series set in Perry Square, and although each book stands alone, we get to revisit some old friends during the course of the new stories. Her upcoming Silhouette Romance books continue the Perry Square series, but this time, we're visiting royalty! Once Upon a Princess, Once Upon a Prince, and Once Upon a King will be released in 2005.
If you like out-of-this-world elements in your romance, you might like Holly's fairy godmother series. Mad About Max, Magic for Joy, and Miracles for Nick give us Myrtle, Fern, and Blossom, and in Fairly Human, the memorable trio finally goes from handing out happily ever afters to getting a few of their own.
Matching her philosophy that you can add in almost any plot to a romance, Holly has recently tried something else a little different by adding a mystery element into her October 2004 Harlequin Flipside, Found and Lost (a/k/a The Dead Body Book). In it, the heroine Markie spends her days avoiding the dead body that won't disappear, except when she doesn't want it to!
Holly's Awards
Holly won the Golden Quill Award for Traditional Romance with her book Do You Hear What I Hear?, and she's also won the 2003 Madcap Award for best contemporary romantic comedy with her book How to Catch a Groom. Many of her books have been finalists for numerous other awards. Expect to see her list of accolades grow.
Holly will be signing books in Erie, PA at the Waldenbooks in the Millcreek Mall on October 30 from 2-4.
Holly Jacobs' books can be purchased at amazon.com, amazon.co.uk, or directly from eHarlequin.
