A Secret Design
by Heather Reed

Heather Reed describes herself as an author "with a romantic heart and an overactive imagination" who "daydreams of magical worlds where feisty heroines and sexy heroes always live happily ever after." Since I've been close friends and business partners with her for many years, I have to agree. She's a writer with a neverending supply of ideas to keep her fingers busy on the keyboard. I expect we'll see many more Heather Reed books in the future.

She's already started sharing her romantic visions with the world, with the release of her first book, A Secret Design, from Avalon Books in August 2006.

Heather Reed has spent many years behind a keyboard, but romance wasn't her first writing gig. Heather began her writing career with memos and legalese. Imagination had very little to do with her writing style at the time, but that didn't stop her from daydreaming up romantic interludes between her favorite television couples.

It didn't take her long to realize romance was quite interesting, especially once she picked up a few Nora Roberts and Julie Garwood books. Once she put pen to paper (or I should say, fingers to keyboard, because I have it on good authority that Heather did most of her writing on a computer early on), she knew she had found her calling.

Heather joined RWA, then SMRW, and after a few years of hard work and a lot of learning, she sold her first book to Avalon Books in 2005.

What Others Say About Heather's Book

Heather's first book, A Secret Design, is the story of Marcus Leary and Angel Kensington. Her country setting and sweet romance have pleased many readers. Our own WWR reviewer said, "A Secret Design is a wonderful debut book.... This was a sweet love story with just a little bit of mystery thrown in. I can't wait to read more of Reed's stories."

Donna Wright, Award-winning author of Diagnosis: Love, says, "Heather Reed can tell a story so well, you forget you're just reading and not really a part of the action."

In my own words, "Heather Reed has written a sweetly compelling story about two strong-willed people who have to learn to put the past behind them before they can move forward and find love. Don't miss Heather Reed's debut romance!"
